Sexual Assault Resources

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, please know that help is available.   Sexual assault, rape, forced sex, or unwanted sexual advances can have many detrimental physical and emotional effects.   Seeking help can assist in the process of healing from sexual trauma and regaining a sense of control and power over one’s life.

If you have been sexually assaulted:

  • Call 911 or 361-825-4444 (on-campus).
  • Do not bathe, shower, or change clothes as this will destroy evidence.
  • Go immediately to the Emergency Room at Doctor’s Regional Hospital, 3315 S. Alameda Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, for an exam and treatment.  The ER phone number  is 361-761-1468.   If you are not in Corpus Christi, go to the nearest emergency room.
  • Call (361-825-2703) to speak to a counselor – this number is answered 24/7.   During regular business hours, come to the Counseling Center and ask to speak to the Counselor on Duty for immediate assistance.
    • Call the National Sexual Assault Hotline  (800) 656-HOPE
    • Call the Women’s Shelter of South Texas 24 hour hotline (800)580-HURT
    • Find more information on the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN)  website
    • Call the Health Center (361-825-2601), University Police (361-825-4444) and Judicial Affairs (361-825-6219) for further assistance.
